Card Games Rummy
Card games like Rummy are favored among the young and old alike. Card games are meant to bring family and friends closer together, as well as provide a social environment where you can meet and talk with people casually, while still having some form of activity. While many social gatherings revolve around games like poker, card games like Rummy are also played in groups, especially where there are children involved.
The concept of card games like Rummy is often a lot simpler than games like poker. The goal of Rummy is to gather as many matched sets as possible. Unlike Poker, Rummy only uses two types of melds, or sets of cards played down in front of you. The first type of meld is the three of a kind. Three cards of the same number can be played down in front of you to form a meld. At this point, you have claimed those cards as points for yourself at the end of the game. The second type of meld is called a run. A run consists of at least three cards of the same suit that fall into the same sequence. For example, the three of clubs, the four of clubs, and the five of clubs can be played down as a run meld. Unlike poker, card games like Rummy view the Ace as the smallest card and are only worth 1 point. Face cards include the Jack, the Queen and the King, and are worth ten points each. Whomever scores the highest by the time a player has completely emptied their hand is the winner.
The beauty of card games like Rummy is that they can be played without stakes and are extremely easy to learn. You can play Rummy anywhere you have a small amount of space and a friend, or you can play Rummy online against strangers. As the rules of card games like Rummy are so simply, you can teach a child as young as four or five years old how to play the game. If you are teaching a child how to play the game, you will want to team them up with someone experienced for the first few games so that they understand how to draw, discard and meld their sets.
While simple to learn, card games like Rummy often have strategy that takes time and practice to master. There are many different play styles that you can use, which can help you defeat your opponent. While one play style, such as playing down melds immediately as you get them, can help you defeat some players, holding onto your melds and emptying your hand all at once is another way that you can win.
